Project Description:
Providing architectural services with ECI/Hyer Architects, Linda Millard was part of the design team for this 10 bed facility that combined youth detention with mental health assessment and care on a challenging steeply-sloped wooded site. A much-needed facility, the center provides diagnostic services, case planning, and short-term residential treatment for youths with severe emotional or behavioral problems. Also included is short-term detention for youth awaiting adjudication or safe housing for youth in need of protection. The facilty was awarded a special citation from the American Institute of Architects Committee on Architecture for Justice in 2003.
